Bowling for a Cause

On July 29, the Pegasus staff from all regions gathered to participate in our Make-A-Wish bowl-a-thon fundraiser at Splitsville Luxury Lanes in Downtown Disney, California.

Make-A-Wish grants life-changing wishes for children going through so much. The founding principle of their vision is to grant the wish of every eligible child. For wish kids, just the act of making their wish come true can give them the courage to comply with their medical treatments. Wishes impact everyone involved - wish kids, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals, and communities.

The process begins with a child being referred by parents, medical professionals or even the children themselves. The child’s treating consultant then determines whether the child is medically eligible to receive a wish and able to participate in the wish. If eligible, Make-A-Wish arranges for their specially trained volunteers to visit the child and find out what their wish is. Once the wish is approved by the treating consultant, the wish team sets out to make it come true. Every effort is made to include the immediate family in the child’s wish. This experience often touches dozens of people who help co-ordinate or are directly involved in the wish.

The ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) committee organized an amazing day to give back and fulfill a child’s dream. Pegasus is fortunate to have the ability to reinvest in the community and future generations. Wishes are more than just a nice thing. They give strength, hope, and transformation. The wish kid that our donated resources will help will possibly be a Pegasus frontline worker’s child, who is in the eligibility process. This experience compels us all to be creative in contributing to our community and uplifting our frontline workers, as well as their children and families.
